QSO Today’s 200th Episode — Eric Guth 4Z1UG

Eric Guth, 4Z1UG, the host of the QSO Today Podcast has recently celebrated his 200th weekly hour-long podcast. These are the tales of amateur radio movers and shakers as told through his interviews. If you’ve never listened, I believe you’ll find it absolutely fascinating.

Of course, there may be one notable exception. That would be my own interview with Eric, episode number 64. Although there could be some chuckles there of interest.

But the rest of his interview subjects include:

  • Z61VB — the YL that helped return Kosovo to the airwaves.
  • KE7X — a PhD that writes the fantastic books on operating Elecraft transceivers.
  • NW7US — the propagation writer for several publications.
  • K1ZZ — the retired ARRL CEO.
  • K3LR — COO of DX Engineering and consummate contest station owner.
  • W0LD — CEO of the world’s largest international shortwave broadcasting network.
  • K6RB — co-founder of CWOPS and it’s CW training academy.
  • N6KR — co-founder of Elecraft.
  • W2VU — editor of CQ magazine.
  • NJ1Q — station manager for W1AW.
  • K7AGE — publishes a YouTube channel with hundreds of ham radio videos.
  • NC0B — publishes his test results for hundreds of amateur radio receivers.
  • K1NSS — ham radio cartoonist.
  • W7GJ — EME operator from some of the rarest spots in the world.
  • K7QO — master CW operator and QRP operator.
  • WB2MGP — hosts the Hamvention Youth Forum and does so much for youth.

Well, the list could go on and on. In fact, as of this writing it would list 186 more of the movers and shakers in amateur radio. These are just a few I spotted running through Eric’s website.

I apologize in advance to all those I didn’t list. It is truly a who’s who of amateur radio. Plus, the fascinating thing is to listen to their stories and learn how much they may have paralleled your own journey in amateur radio. He inquires about how they became interested, who was their elmer, their first rig, and many other items that you’ll either share or wished you’d shared at the time. I know that’s what happens to me when I listen.

I also encourage you to listen to Eric’s own interview. He covers his first rig and many other aspects of his life with amateur radio. Plus, he provides insight into his move to Israel from the USA along with bonus content on podcast operation. I will mention it was my honor to serve as the guest host/interviewer.

If you haven’t listened, time to try it out. It’s great fun and so interesting to learn how others paralleled your own amateur radio adventure.
