K2BSA Amateur Radio Association

There are a number of blog postings on this site about my involvement with K2BSA, the amateur radio station associated with the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America.

I served as president of the K2BSA Amateur Radio Association from 2012 through 2019. Over that time, the association membership grew from 6 to nearly 500 at this writing. We developed their website and social media, reinstated their 501c3 status with the IRS, and initiated many items supporting Radio Scouting, including the BSA and ARRL Memorandum of Understanding that also led to the ARRL Service to Scouting Award, updated Radio Merit Badge requirements to include ARDF-Foxhunting, initiated the Morse Code Interpreter Strip and Amateur Radio Operator Rating Strip for wear on the Scout uniform, and helped implement Icom America’s sponsorship of BSA amateur radio activities.

The association is an IRS 501c3 non-profit organized for the benefit of amateur radio and Scouting. It is dedicated to extending the reach of amateur radio within the Scout movement. You can visit the website at K2BSA Amateur Radio Association. Also, check out the K2BSA Facebook Page and the K2BSA Twitter account.

In July 2022, I provided a briefing for the Radio Scouting session at the Philmont Training Center. Here’s the slide deck Radio Scouting History V1A
