Sporadic E Mid-April

As I wandered past the ham shack this afternoon, I heard someone on 50.125 MHz. It was XE1USG coming in loud and clear even though my yagi was pointed about 45 degrees away from his heading. I worked him and saw a CW signal down the band. I then worked XE1FAA for a new grid.

You can see from the DX Maps image above that a few others found this Sporadic E opening. But not really that many. I started to call CQ on CW pointing in various directions and heard both the XE stations continuing to call, but I didn’t work anything else.

Oh well. It’s good to see that the Sporadic E season is getting started. Hope to catch you on 6 meters this summer.
