SARTG RTTY Contest

This weekend I worked the Scandinavian Amateur Radio Teleprinter Group (SARTG) World Wide RTTY Contest. This was my first time to try this contest. It has a unique time frame. Eight hours starting Friday evening, eight hours off, then eight hours on, followed by another eight off and eight on to the finish. It works nicely allowing you to squeeze in home commitments around the contest.

Unfortunately, the conditions were not the best for much of the contest. It did seem to come alive on Sunday morning, about the time that I had to leave for church. None the less, I was able to work 116 stations and generate close to 60,000 points — all with my 100 watts into verticals. Managed to work a number of stations in Europe, Africa, North America, Oceania, and Japan. It all helps as I work my way toward DXCC on RTTY.

It was a good time for this amateur radio contester.
