VOA Museum

I recently came across an interesting article on the Voice of America Museum at the old transmitting station in Bethany, Ohio. The article is in Radio World. It provides a broad overview of the museum and notes a number of other entities that have moved into the same facilities. The museum website is here.

I recommend going to the video section of the site and watching the videos from the two gentlemen who were on the technical staff for the transmitting station. One has a fascinating story of the development of the first 200 kilowatt transmitters in the early days of World War II. The other was plant manager when they shut down the facility in the late 1990’s. Great stories that bookend the story of the VOA.

I need to plan my next road trip to include visiting this museum.
