CQ WW VHF Test

photoshop-chrome-letters-VHFAs noted earlier, I worked the NAQP RTTY contest on Saturday. The CQ WW VHF contest started at the same time but ran through Sunday afternoon. So Sunday morning I fired up the rig and worked this VHF contest.

All morning and into the early afternoon I heard just one local station. However, by mid-afternoon six meters came alive and I was able to work a number of stations on both CW and phone, managed to do a couple of runs in both modes as well. I see that I worked 61 QSOs with 37 grids. I’ve also just looked back to the ARRL June VHF contest and find that there I also worked 61 QSOs and 39 grids. My vertical and 100 watts seem to be pretty consistent, as were the bands.

This weekend I’ll be at the Central States VHF Conference in Austin, TX. I’m looking forward to learning more about VHF and catching up with my daughter who lives in San Antonio. Should be a great weekend.
